When traveling to any foreign country, you need to get an appropriate visa. There are many different visas that you can choose, depending on the reason for your visit. Recently, in more and more countries, one of the most popular visa options for foreigners to get is called a Working Holiday Visa.

A working holiday visa allows you to get employment in the country you’re visiting, so you can supplement your travel funds, and in turn, stay for longer in the country because you’re spending less money. Most working holiday visas are offered as part of a reciprocal agreement, so citizens from both countries are able to travel to the other. Most working holiday agreements are meant for younger travelers (eligible to those between eighteen and thirty years old). One of the conditions of the visa is that you are expected to bring plenty of money to live on while you’re looking for a job.

Japan was one of the first countries to commence a working holiday program, coming to an agreement with Australia at the end of 1980, and with New Zealand in 1985. Canada started a program with Japan in 1986, and South Korea and France joined in 1999, with Germany following in 2000, the UK in 2001, and Ireland and Denmark in 2007. Recently, Working holiday programs are becoming much more popular around the world, as they enable travelers to get a real global perspective and learn more about the countries they visit.

According to the visa conditions, in order to help working holiday visa holders gain the money to travel and see the country, they’re allowed to work part time or full time. This means that they need fewer savings to travel to Japan. The only restriction on the type of job they are able to do is that they’re not permitted to work in the “entertainment” industry – which includes bars / nightclubs etc.

All visa holders are required to enter Japan within a year of the visa being issued, and are granted a stay period of six months, which may be extended another six months (or even up to 18months total for Australian citizens). Only people who’ve never had a working holiday visa in Japan may obtain one, and the visa is single entry, so if you need to leave the country even only temporarily, you’ll have to get a re-entry permit before you leave.

To obtain this visa you must be a citizen of a country participating in the working visa program, and you must currently live in that country. Applicants are only able to apply within their home country, so if you’re traveling, you’ll need to return back home before you can get the visa and head to Japan. Your main purpose of visiting the country needs to be for a holiday, and you need to be between the ages of eighteen and thirty. You have to possess a valid passport, as well as a return ticket home or the money to buy one, and you must show you have reasonable funds to cover all living expenses in Japan. The minimum for a single person is two thousand dollars US, or an equivalent amount in your national currency. In some countries, you must also undertake tests to prove you are in good health, and have no criminal record.

American Holidays – Following the San Antonio River

The River
The San Antonio River is located in the central eastern region of Texas. It is 240 miles in length and feeds into the Guadalupe River and then on into the Gulf of Mexico. The unique area around the springs and the nearby Edwards Aquifer are home to many endangered species – and is an especially intriguing site to visit.

The City of San Antonio

The walk includes a huge network of walkways and bridges which have mostly been in place since the 1940s, but have since been expanded in the 1980s.

The Missions
The most well-known Mission in the SA area is most widely called The Alamo. Today the site is a museum in honour of the US’s history with artefacts from the Texas Revolution. However there are four more Missions to be visited and all are significant in their architecture and use. They are Mission Concepcion, Mission Espada, Mission San Jose and Mission San Juan Capstrano. The buildings range from 300 to 400 years old and are preserved by the SA Missions National Park.
